Baku isn’t sounds like a species of parrot? jokes apart, it’s the name of the lively capital city of Azerbaijan. Glamour of big cities never enticed me much and I prefer to sleep in my tent somewhere around in the nature rather than in a big luxury hotel room of huge city, but I gladly made an exception for Baku!

While on tour of this energetic metropolis; Baku, you will feel like exploring a small world. Many describes it as the “the love child of Paris and Dubai” and once you visited the city, you’ll understand why.

I would also like to tag it as the big brother of Batumi, a different but beautiful Georgian city on the coast of the Black Sea. Baku has a lovely avenue on which you can walk for hours and it looks more attractive at sunrise or sunset.Baku Tour Package.

The city also has number of lovely little parks where you can play hide and seek between the big green bushes, a museum of miniature books, Azerbaijan carpet museum, an old historical city with the neo-Ottoman Shahidlar mosque, incredible eye-catching architecture such as the Heydar Aliyev Centre, Palace of the Shirvanshahs, Ateshgah temple, Mud volcanoes, Yanar Dag (natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside) and of course, the iconic Flame Towers towering above the city. If you have little more time to spend, you can enjoy walking on cobblestone streets, narrow winding alleys, watching boutique houses, and check-in at amazing cafes & restaurants.

I felt like lost in wonderland whenever I entered in a huge city, mainly during the first days. Sometimes I used to sit ideal on a bench, stunned by the heavy traffic and crowds of people, not aware of where to go or what to do.

That’s why I decided to pen down my experience and put together this guide with things to do in Baku, so you won’t feel as lost as me and you won’t need to break your piggy bank.

Baku tour package can be costlier if you don’t watch out so it’s good to know a few useful things about Baku before you plan a trip. I would still advise you to sit on a bench and observe the people and the surroundings. It’s always a fun thing to do, especially while sipping on a coffee. If you are wondering for the best night out, then Baku has lot of options to checkout. Nightlife in Baku is the best one as compared to other major cities; one should checkout out it once, and you will come to know itself. Also, there are many restaurants and cafes remain open throughout night offering fabulous food – lots of kebabs, tea, vegetables, meat and flat bread.

Baku tour package isn’t complete until you’ve tried the local cuisine. It has a lot in common with Turkish and Iranian food - kebabs, flat bread, salads, hummus, fresh fruits & vegetables, etc.  My favourite Azeri food was drinking tea with strawberry jam, it was just tantalizing.

I really loved my short Baku travel and I hope to be back sometime soon! I just can’t wait to see how much more advanced the country will be the next time I visit with more skyscrapers and high-tech attractions.
